Alaskans who use tobacco and want help quitting can now receive a free 8-week supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) patches by calling the toll-free Alaska Tobacco Quit Line at 1-888-842-QUIT (7848).
This free tobacco quit line service, funded by the State Tobacco Prevention and Control Program, is available 7 days a week from 4:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Alaska standard time. Callers must be 18 years of age or older to participate.
Callers can expect the following services:
- Initial registration process to collect basic contact and demographic information
- 1st coaching call with a Quit Coach to collect information about participants tobacco use and create a personalized Quit Plan
- For those ready to set a quit date within 30 days - on-going coaching support with a trained Quit Coach
- 8-week supply of nicotine replacement therapy patches, if appropriate
- A written Quit Guide
- Materials for friends and families
- Referrals to community resources based on location
- Referrals to participant's health plan or employer cessation services
